Co-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The ever-changing roster of co-curricular activities available in school are a defining feature of life at Maidwell Hall – ensuring every pupil enjoys rich and varied experience that creates lifelong memories, passions and friendships.
By providing a huge and constantly changing programme of co-curricular activities, we ensure they have plentiful opportunities to encounter new things, develop skills and talents, have fun with their peers, build confidence and curiosity, and begin to assemble the rich tapestry of experiences that makes each of us unique.
Co-curricular activities are provided at two points during the day. The first is during our long morning break, when pupils have ample opportunity to participate in musical practices, art activities, cross-country, squash, taekwondo, woodwork, ballet and much more.
At the end of the day, we have our main extra-curricular activity slot, which provides more time for pupils to get involved with many different activities. The options available include a wide choice of sports, from cricket, football and rugby to swimming, golf and tennis, alongside an eclectic programme of activities that reflect the interests and talents of our staff. These could include cooking, clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing, board games, table tennis, wide games, street dance, ballet, croquet, cross-fit, debating, public speaking, chess, trout smoking, Dungeons & Dragons, play rehearsals, beekeeping, air rifle shooting, climbing and yoga, to name a few.
In addition, we host a whole range of inter-house competitions, where pupils compete to win points for their House. These competitions include debating, shooting, Monopoly, rugby, pancake races, E-sports, chess, football, swimming, hockey, convoy (an outdoor game based on naval ships) and quizzes.
During the summer, we organise camping weekends, where the pupils pitch their tents in the school grounds, have a barbecue, go foraging in the woods and cook their own food.
There is so much for pupils to enjoy and experience in our extra-curricular provision. These activities encourage children to simply be children, and enjoy themselves in memorable and worthwhile ways.
