Form II’s Unforgettable Trip to Normandy

Posted on: 24/06/2024

One of the highlights of the summer term at Maidwell Hall is the much-anticipated Form II (Year 7) trip to Normandy — and this year’s adventure did not disappoint!

The pupils experienced a week full of activities, culture, and history, making lasting memories along the way. Among the trip highlights was a walk across the sand to Mont St Michel, with the “sinky” sand proving to be both challenging and fun! The group enjoyed an Abbey tour, followed by apple juice tasting and a day of vélorail and kayaking, which brought smiles and laughter to all.

A particularly memorable moment was when the pupils visited the American and British war cemeteries, just days after the anniversary of D-Day. This fittingly poignant visit gave pupils the chance to reflect on history and honour those who served, making the experience even more meaningful.

The trip also gave pupils the chance to immerse themselves in French culture, including a visit to the Condé market, where they took on the challenge of buying their own lunch in French!

The Form II Normandy trip is always a standout event in the school calendar, offering a perfect mix of adventure, education, and cultural experiences.

Bravo to our Form II pupils for embracing the trip with enthusiasm and curiosity — and a huge thank you to the staff who made it all possible.
