Fireworks and Poetry!
Posted on: 08/11/2023Last weekend we enjoyed 'Super Saturday' one of the most popular events of the Maidwell school calendar.
Beginning with the inter-house hockey championships, it was truly great to see Forms VI - I (Yr 3-8) fully embracing the inter house rivalry as Ash, Pine, Oak & Beech battled the elements and competed fiercely for their houses in some nail-biting games.
This year's Poetry Competition saw pupils from Years 4-8 produce impressive poems based around the theme ‘Origins'. Thank you to this year's adjudicator, Alistair Sherwin, Deputy Head Co-curricular at Oundle School, and Maidwell's Head of English Tamsin Guard for organising such a highlight of our school calendar. Pictured are the winners and runners-up from each year group, who each read their poems in front of a large audience
The evening was rounded off with a bonfire and spectacular fireworks display, with hot chocolate, hot dogs and toffee apples keeping everyone going!
